The 38th edition of Baja España Aragón ended on Sunday with a 159 km special between Bañón and Teruel. Nasser Al-Attiyah / Mathieu Baumel in the car category and Tosha Schareina among the bikes showed their pace once again and secured the victory.
It was the Qatari rider's fifth victory in Baja España after finishing third in the last stage, won by current world title holder Yazeed Al-Rajhi. Nasser, who debuted a brand new Toyota Hilux built for the upcoming Dakar Rally, dominated the rally from start to finish, setting the fastest time in two of the weekend's three stages. In the final general classification, he beat Yazeed Al-Rajhi accompanied by Michael Orr by 3m02s and Lucas Moraes and Kaique Bentivoglio by 5m25s, the young and dynamic Brazilian who once again climbed to a world podium, repeating what they did in Portugal in the Baja Portalegre 500 of the last season.
“It was a great weekend for us. It wasn't easy, but we didn't have too many problems and we were able to enjoy the rally. My next race will be in Baja Poland, to continue the preparation for the next Dakar Rally.”, declared Al-Attiyah.

It was a perfect weekend for Tosha Schareina, who secured her first victory at Baja España Aragón, winning every stage of the race. The Gas Gas rider started the last stage of Sunday as the leader, with a lead of 4m10s, and once again set the best time in his category.
Schareina won the last special with a 51s lead over Lorenzo Santolino and a 3m44s lead over Portuguese Rui Gonçalves. In the final general classification, Tosha Shareina beat by 5m01s Lorenzo Santolino and Rui Gonçalves by 15m25s, respectively runners-up and third in the Mundial FIM Bajas.
“In my third Baja I managed to win. Yesterday we had a four-minute lead and I wanted to take advantage of it today. I struggled to get into the rhythm because I was in the dust behind Rui, but as soon as I was able to overtake him and in the afternoon I was able to ride very comfortably and build an important advantage before today.", statement by Schareina

In the SSV category, the Portuguese João Días was the winner after an intense battle with the renowned Spaniard Dani Sordo. The WRC driver started the last stage as the leader, but after losing more than three minutes throughout the day, he finished second in his first Baja España Aragón.
In the quads classification, Alejandro García won with a 5m33s advantage over David Gómez. Suzuki rider Javier Serrano finished third in this category.

The next round of the FIA Bajas World Cup will take place in Poland, between the 1st and 4th of September.
