Kalle Rovanperä Youngest Winner of Rally de Portugal

After becoming the youngest winner in WRC history. At the age of 21, Kalle Rovanperä became the youngest to win in the 55 editions of the race organized by the Automóvel Club de Portugal.

In the "Best Rally in the World" organized by the ACP, the Finnish prodigy took his third consecutive victory in the WRC season. Demonstrating that age is not a document, he consolidated his candidacy for the title of youngest world champion in history, leaving Portugal with a 46 point advantage over Belgian Thierry Neuville, for now his most direct rival. While his Welsh colleague Elfyn Evans, winner of the previous edition of the Vodafone Rally de Portugal, was runner-up, offering the Toyota Gazoo Team a valuable one-two. With this victory, the mark of the three ellipses adds to its seventh triumph in our country. In this edition marked by emotion until the last special, Fafe's Power Stage, the Spaniard Dani Sordo secured a valuable third place for Hyundai, while the two-time production world champion Armindo Araújo in a Skoda Fabia Rally2 once again became the best Portuguese in the test.

In WRC2, Finnish Teemu Suninen in a Hyundai i20 Rally2 wasted a victory that seemed certain, when he crashed on the Power Stage and opened the door for Frenchman Yohan Rossel to climb up with his Citroën C3 Rally2 in first place, on the finish stage in Matosinhos. And the Skoda Fabia Rally2 of the Polish Kajetan Kajetanowicz and the British Chris Ingram (Junior winner) completed the final podium of the main category of support to the WRC.

The brightest star in the current WRC is the young Finnish prodigy Kalle Rovanperä, son of Harry, who is also a former World Championship driver. He reinforced in Portugal his bid for the 2022 title and the youngest champion in the history of the World Rally.
